You can help transform the lives of veterans who have given everything to protect our country by leaving a gift in your Will.
Leaving a gift in your Will to support our veterans
Generous gifts left to us in Wills enable us to continue our work supporting wounded, injured and sick veterans regain financial independence in civilian jobs they love.
Last year we supported our 1,000th veteran back into employment within their community. Regular income helps us to continue providing tailored support to the thousands more ex-Service men and women who need our help.
A gift in your Will can take many shapes, all leaving you with the knowledge that you will be contributing to turning veterans’ lives around. These include:
- A set amount of money – there is an option to ask your Will writer to ensure that its value increases with inflation
- A specific item such as property, jewellery or other valuables
- A percentage of what is left from your estate, after looking after your family
- Shares

Chris spent 15 years in the Royal Navy and during his career received the Queens Commendation for Bravery Conduct. “I didn’t feel like I deserved it as my act of bravery was overshadowed by an empty feeling. I was young and I had never seen a dead body before or even attended a funeral. I remember pulling dead bodies from the sea and the one that I left behind haunted me.”
After leaving the Navy Chris started to wonder whether he had made the right decision, and although he did not know it at the time, he was suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Chris was referred to the Veteran’s hospital and introduced to Rachel from The Poppy Factory who started working with Chris to see how she could support him into a job which suited his needs.
“Rachel provided the support that I had been missing. Together we were able to explore the things that I wanted to do. We looked for opportunities in areas that interested me and I was keen to experience life in a different way. Now I am in a job that I enjoy and feel like I am giving to society rather than taking.”
We would love to know if you are considering leaving a gift to The Poppy Factory, so we can thank you, but there is no requirement for you to do so. The gift can be organised through your own Will writer but if you would like advice about how to do this please contact our team on 020 8940 3305 or fundraising@poppyfactory.org.
