Free tours of our Richmond Poppy Factory
We warmly welcome visitors on prearranged, 2-hour tours of the factory in Richmond, Surrey. These tours can be for individuals (where we would add you to another group or we may combine small groups together) or for parties of up to maximum of 35 people. You don’t have to be Chelsea Pensioner to visit us! On your tour you will enjoy a fascinating presentation and introductory film about the factory and its history. You will then move through to our museum area where you get to make a poppy and see some of the wreaths and poppies we have made throughout history. Following this you will walk along our royal corridor and see wreaths made for the royal family, as well as photos from their visits throughout the years. Before heading back to our gift shop you will see the machines that cut out millions of poppies that are then pieced together carefully by our staff.
A selection of souvenirs, including Poppy Factory china is available to purchase from our shop at the end of the tour (cash only at present).
Guided tours can be arranged from Monday to Thursday, starting at 10.30am or 14:00pm. The tour takes about 2 hours including tea and coffee. If you require something a bit more substantial, we can provide a lunch in our staff canteen for afternoon tours served at 1.15pm. Tours with lunch booked will not start until 2pm.
We welcome groups of all ages including school groups, scout and guide groups (above age 6 years). Presentations are adapted to suit younger groups. The Poppy Factory is fully accessible to wheelchair users and people with mobility problems. Please DO NOT arrive more than 15 minutes before your tour/lunch is booked – Unfortunately we cannot accommodate groups before this time.
Visit to The Poppy Factory are free though donations are always welcome and very much appreciated. There are donation boxes in the Showroom. Cheques (made payable to The Poppy Factory) are also very welcome. Alternatively you can make a donation from our website:
