Payroll Giving is a simple, effective and tax-efficient way for your employees to make regular donations to their favourite charities. It is also good for businesses. Offering the Payroll Giving scheme shows that a company is committed to working in partnership with the community. Over 60% of businesses offering the scheme say it improves their company image. How it works A Payroll Giving scheme is easy and inexpensive to run. Organisations can deduct any set-up and administrative costs from company profits for tax purposes. And as a mark of your success in running the scheme, your organisation could be awarded one of three Payroll Giving Quality Marks. The Poppy Factory can help you to implement a payroll giving scheme from scratch or re-launch a dormant scheme. Incentivise your staff To show their commitment to the scheme, many organisations offer other benefits, such as ‘matched giving’. In many cases, this can double staff donations, providing further incentives for your team to take part.

With steady, reliable income we can continue to invest in the lives of wounded, injured and sick ex-Service men and women. Removing the barriers to work which are faced by wounded, injured and sick ex-Service men and women won’t happen overnight. It takes time, expertise, knowledge and creativity and that is why your regular support is so crucial. Support for Services charities has been rising over recent years with current research highlighting the popularity of military causes. However, this window of opportunity is likely to fade as we exit from Afghanistan in the coming years and this is just when our clients will need us most. We need a regular, reliable source of income in order to plan ahead effectively and develop the long-term projects that could transform the futures of our ex-Service men and women. Please support them now by setting up a Direct Debit or giving a one-off donation, you could qualify for Gift Aid, which means we can reclaim tax and add 25% on your donation at no cost to yourself. Visit our secure donation page (provided by JustGiving).
You can help us shape the future for disabled ex-Service men and women by leaving a gift in your will. Remembering The Poppy Factory in your Will is one way that you can help us to achieve our vision of ensuring that all wounded, injured and sick ex-Service men and women have the tools, knowledge, confidence and skill to gain meaningful, paid employment. Legacies make a real difference to the support we can offer our clients. Once you have looked after your friends and family in a will, a gift to The Poppy Factory will enable us to continue our work into the future.   How to leave a legacy If you are interested in leaving a legacy please email us or telephone 020 8939 1861. We strongly advise that you take professional legal advice – particularly regarding the formalities of signing and witnessing your Will – and use a suitably qualified professional to draft the Will for you.
Giving stocks, shares and other investments to charity can be a tax effective way of giving to those causes you care about. This is a very tax-effective way to give and can make a significant difference to your tax bill. Giving Shares can actually cost you less than giving cash! How does the tax relief work? There are two types of tax relief that are potentially available when you give shares: Income Tax relief on the value of the shares and exemption from Capital Gains Tax. With the higher rates of income tax at 40% and 50% and capital gains tax at 18% (or 28% for higher rate tax payers), this can amount to a substantial tax break. Tax relief will be given for the market value of the shares as a deduction from your income tax liability for the tax year in which the gift is made. Additionally, you may be liable for exemption from Capital Gains Tax on the increase on the value of the shares that you would have had to pay if you had simply sold them. It is important to note that other influencing factors/tax liabilities may alter these figures, therefore do seek professional financial advice before proceeding. Affinity Marketing Cause Related Marketing (CRM) is not philanthropy or altruism. It is based on a recognition by businesses that linking with charities or good causes can be mutually beneficial. It is a way of addressing current social issues by providing resources and funding, whilst addressing business marketing objectives. CRM is intuitively appealing: it provides a win, win, win situation for all involved – for the business, the charity or good cause and the consumer.Developing a cause related marketing opportunity with The Poppy Factory could boost brand reputability and fulfill your CSR targets whilst supporting a popular and topical cause. ____ If you would like to find out more about building a relationship and working with The Poppy Factory please contact the fundraising team by telephone on 020 8940 3305 or via email fundraising@poppyfactory.org.

We can develop tailored proposals to ensure that your grant or donation has the maximum impact on our clients, their families and ultimately the communities in which they live. Trusts and foundations play an extremely important role in helping us to change the lives of hundreds of wounded, injured and sick ex-Servicemen and women every year. Our team of experienced, dedicated caseworkers adopt a tailored approach to each client, working with them on a one-to-one basis to determine their individual career goals and put a career management plan in place. Caseworkers will then work with clients to identify any gaps in their skills set, assist in the preparation of CVs and application forms, and liaise with potential employers to source appropriate roles. With your support, we’re with them every step of the way. This individualistic approach, combined with the fact that the charity’s overheads and running costs are complete absorbed by its estate, means your donation is spent exactly where it is intended, whether this is on a particular aspect of service delivery, towards an individual with a specific background, or within in a particular industry. If you would like to discuss the ways in which you can support us through charitable trust or foundation, please contact Liz George on lizgeorge@poppyfactory.org.
