The Poppy Factory is delighted to have received a total of £10,000 from new grant funder, the Veterans’ Foundation, to help us continue our work supporting wounded, injured and sick veterans into employment.
Back in May 2018, the charity was awarded £5,000 and more recently, a further £5,000 was given as a one-off donation.
Amanda Shepard, The Poppy Factory’s Director of Fundraising, said: “We were delighted to receive the initial gift from the Veteran’s Foundation but then to receive a second surprise donation shows real generosity and support for The Poppy Factory’s life-changing work with veterans. We are truly grateful to the Veteran’s Foundation for their continued support.”
The Veterans’ Foundation was set up in 2017 to help fund military charities. The foundation raises money through donations and also with a lottery that is specifically for veterans. The Veterans’ Lottery runs a monthly draw and the top prize (when including the rollover) is £25,000.
The funds received will go towards supporting veterans with mental and physical health conditions across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Since 2010, The Poppy Factory has been able to support over 1,000 veterans thanks to our Getting You Back To Work service.
We estimate, however, that there are at least 20,000 unemployed veterans of working age in the UK who have physical and mental health challenges struggling to get back into work after leaving the Armed Forces.
