Gruelling cycle challenge raises over £10,000 to help veterans transform their lives

A team of cyclists geared up early on Saturday, August 20 to take on the challenge of completing 100 laps for 100 years of The Poppy Factory.

The riders finished 105 laps of Richmond Park in just 6 hours, smashing their original target of 100 laps in 10 hours.

Their ambitious effort was led by Jeff Short, Director of Production and the Estate at The Poppy Factory, who wanted to raise funds our charity’s centenary year.

His committed co-riders included the charity’s supporters, Richmond residents and colleagues. Together they raised more than £10,000 to help veterans with health conditions change their lives through employment support.

Jeff said: “We were supported by a range of folks, drinks marshals, lap recorders and general morale boosters …. as we reached the end on wobbly bikes but with smiling faces. Thank you all for your support, it is very much appreciated.”

A huge thank-you from The Poppy Factory to everyone who completed the challenge, supported the team and made a donation. To show your support, please visit the JustGiving page.
