PLEASE NOTE: We have extremely limited availability for afternoon tours in 2016. Morning tours are still available.
Provisional bookings for 2017 are available, although timings and menu prices are subject to change.
We warmly welcome visitors on pre-arranged tours of The Poppy Factory. These tours can be for individuals (where we would add you to another group or we may combine small groups together) or for parties of up to maximum of 35 people. You don't have to be Chelsea Pensioner to visit us! Enjoy a fascinating presentation and introductory film about the Factory and its history and then visit the ‘shop floor’, giving you the opportunity to meet some of our colleagues and see how poppies and wreaths are made. A selection of souvenirs including Poppy Factory china is available to purchase from our shop at the end of the tour.
Guided tours can be arranged from Monday to Thursday, starting at 10.30am or 1.30pm. The tour takes about 2 hours including tea and biscuits. We welcome groups of all ages including school groups, scout and guide groups (above age 6 years). Presentations are adapted to suit younger groups. The Poppy Factory is fully accessible to wheelchair users and people with mobility problems.
Please scroll to the bottom of this page to download a booking form.
Please DO NOT arrive more than 15 minutes before your tour/lunch is booked. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate groups before this time.
We will welcome you with complimentary tea and biscuits at the start of the tour. If you require something a bit more substantial, we can provide a lunch in our staff canteen for afternoon tours served at 1:15pm. Tours with lunch booked will not start until 2pm.
Please order your lunch in advance with us.
Visits to The Poppy Factory are free though donations are always welcome and very much appreciated. There are donation boxes in the Showroom. Cheques (made payable to The Royal British Legion Poppy Factory) are also very welcome.
Visitor group entrance and parking
The Factory entrance is on the Petersham Road opposite the Hobart Hall Hotel just a few hundred yards from Richmond Bridge. Passengers can be set down here. Coach and car parking is available at The Old Deer Park, Richmond, about 15 minutes walk from the Factory.
Unfortunately,we have no parking available; however coaches are able to drop off passengers at the entrance of the car park. Coach parking is available at the Old Deer Park NCP, which can be accessed from the A316 (this is a Pay and Display car park).
The Factory is 15 minutes walk from Richmond Station, or 5 minutes by no. 65 bus from outside the station (alight at the Compass Hill stop). The station is on the District Line or via main line from Waterloo Station. The no. 65 bus also runs from Kingston bus terminal to the Petersham Road, just by the Factory entrance.
